Brockville Orchard
In 2013, the Brockville Ecological and Sustainability Team took a significant step towards making their community more sustainable. They applied to the Dunedin City Council for permission to transform a section of Frasers Gully Reserve into a thriving community orchard.
Located between numbers 4 and 6 Turnbull Street, this space has pear and apple trees that have produced fruit for residents over the years.
The layout of the orchard was carefully planned by Sutherland Nursery, a local business that specializes in plant design. Their expertise helped in selecting the types of fruit that would thrive in the orchard, including dwarf trees near neighboring properties to minimize any potential disruptions.
